Who The Fuck Is Doc Holliday?

Doc Holliday April 19, 2010 Doc Holliday Blog No Comments

Uhhh…let’s see where to begin…I typically like to write like I talk so…yeah, and I have an affinity for profanity.  I’m going to try to work on the profanity though, because before I even wrote this I got scolded by my mom about my language.  What can I say though, while I can be very articulate and well spoken without using profanity I wouldn’t be fucking Doc Holliday if I didn’t cuss and we can’t have that.  So hopefully everyone can let fucking Doc Holliday be fucking Doc Holliday.  Anyway,  I figured if we are going to begin sharing an intimidate relationship where I’m sharing music with you all and bringing you into my shenanigans filled world you should have at least have a good understanding of the type of person I am and what you can expect from me.  However, if you want to be an ass and your sitting there thinking what the hell is guy yipping about then you my friend and I use the term friend very loosely for you, you can skip down to the music.  I won’t even be mad, just disappointed.  Oh yeah and let me go back and define a word for you, I’ll do this from time to time as well.  My friends and I have a language all our own, just as I’m sure most people do, so I’ll define our language from time to time.  Here is my unabridged definition of yipper as defined by Team Cheating:

Verb: Yipping

The act of talking about nothing incessantly for extended periods of time

“What the fuck is this dude yipping about?”

“Is this fucking dude still yipping?”

Noun: Yipper

A sometimes uninteresting person who thinks he/she is interesting and talks about nothing for extended periods of time usually during times when they shouldn’t be talking anyway

“This dude is a fucking yipper”

Ok now that we got that out of the way, let’s get back on topic, oh wait you’re probably thinking who the fuck or what the fuck is a team cheating, well even if you weren’t thinking that I’m going to tell you.  It’s a 10 member group that consists of 9 engineers and 1 doctor and it accounts for almost every ethnicity and shit there is even 2 girls.  For the most part engineers are very corny, we are the exception.  We could probably turn any event into something ridiculous and shenanigans almost certainly ensue if you get a couple of us together.  Especially, some of the members who have what “society” may dictate as alcoholic drinking tendencies.  Really though, fuck society and fuck following rules, which is a great segue into my feelings and beliefs on music and what you can expect from me as far as writing and music goes.  As you may have guessed I don’t really follow rules in that realm either.  I fell in love with music as a kid growing up in New Jersey and fell in love with mixtapes especially on the streets of Atlantic City.  I look at music like art and realize that every piece of music is different and unique.  For awhile I listened to strictly…gangster shit or underground shit I mean there is really no other way to describe it.  Which is pretty funny considered the unimposing suburban Jersey dude that I am.  I don’t know what to say I guess I just have a gangster’s soul.  Eventually though thanks to some great friends and a great mother I was exposed to a lot of different things which has shaped my diverse music taste that I now have.  I pretty much fuck with everything and listen to everything these days.  I love movies which is ironic because my life is like a movie a lot of times.  Also thanks to movies I fell in love with all types of movies I probably would not have found out about otherwise.  I typically find that some of my favorite movies have great soundtracks, and as result I hope that any of my own mixtapes kind of feel like a soundtrack.  I’ll listen to anything at least once, I love finding out about new music or new artists.  I love the feeling of putting on a mixtape or an album and just knowing from start that it’s going to be good.  I’ll give any artist a try once, but if I’m unimpressed and don’t find any reason to revisit their music I usually won’t.  I don’t like wasting time or energy complaining about artists or music I don’t like and besides if I started doing that I probably would never stop.  Since I always have plenty of good music I rarely feel the need to go on extended rants about what I don’t like…rarely.  I would rather use that energy on supporting artists I like and giving them the exposure they deserve and help expand their fanbase.  However, I do go on what some people refer to as legend wait for it dary rants and you will get a taste of that hopefully.  Even those won’t consist of me tearing down any artists, but moreso the system or establishment that music is now hinged on these days.  Some of the rants will be straight out of left field though, think about the who phrauded segment on official street radio only from someone who fell off their rocker a long time ago or rather if there was no rocker to even begin with.  If you are a fan of Family Guy think about Peter Griffin’s What Grinds My Gears, in fact I’m going to shamelessly jack that title.

Which brings me to my next bullet point and will help you understand a little bit more about the type of person I am.  If I like something I’ll let it be known or if someone helps me with something I’ll say thank you.  There always seems to be such a sense in our society today that if you like something you should keep it a fucking secret or if someone helps you with something you’re not expected to say thank you.  That is not me, but that doesn’t mean I’m doing things for any type of recognition or for someone to kiss my ass.  I’m trying to share my love of music and my music collection which in case you were wondering, it’s very big (That’s What She Said (TWSS)) with the world.  I mean how else did you think I got this gig, off my good looks and charm, negative I’m not that good looking, charming I am though.  So I will definitely be paying homage to some of the artists that have influenced and inspired me over the years and continue to do so and even some new artists as well.  I’m not a big fan of talking about my feelings so music is like therapy to me a lot of times.  It speaks to me, so I feel like I have to give something back for all that it’s given me over the years.  With that said, before I forget special thanks to the whole Offical Street Radio crew for this wonderful opportunity and especially Big O for all of the special time we have spent together and all of your help no homo.   Also a big shout out to http://www.2dopeboyz.com/ and also http://www.allflamerz.com/ a great site for philly stuff.  There is a couple other sites I would like to thank…but yeah.  Anyway, yes I will be using no homo from time to time as well.  I like it more than pause plus I think it’s hilarious.  It won’t excessive though, just when I say something that can definitely be construed as homo, that’s that only time I think it is appropriate.  I have nothing against gay people as well, in fact I love lesbians and I don’t have a problem with guys having sex with other guys. I’m cool with it, I got friends who fuck guys… in jail. In all seriousness though, I’m one of the most open-minded people you will ever meet and far be it for me to tell anyone how to live their life just like I hope no one would ever try to tell me how to live my life.  As the film enthusiast I have to recommend, Milk, if you can get past some of the stuff in the movie it is a truly wonderful movie.  I have to be honest though, I’m not really the biggest fan of overly flamboyant gay dudes but then again I’m also not really a big fan of overly thugged out dudes either.  I enjoy a nice balance and different things, I’m always looking to add to my list of things black people don’t normally do no homo.  So it should be no surprise that you will expect to see music from a wide range of artists and writing on a wide range of topics.

Ok let’s wrap this up, if this were my speech at Oscars or something they would have definitely starting playing the wrap it up music for me.  WRAP THAT MUTHAFUCKING BLOG UP B.  The funny thing about this whole thing is I actually hate the idea of blogs, I hate the idea that anyone thinks anyone cares about their opinion.  Especially, since every asshat these days seems to have their own blog or stupid ass video on Youtube, some people definitely should be denied internet access and be unable to share their stupidity with the rest of the world and further decrease the overall intelligence of the world.  I guess in this case I will hide behind the fact I was asked to blog and that several people have said I would be great at blogging.  At least I’m selling my soul for music, something I love too.  I mean I have sold my soul for far less in the past.  So I guess we’ll just have to see where this journey takes us.  I would never have guessed that a shy introverted kid from New Jersey who fell in love with music years ago would be doing anything like this.  I mean I would definitely consider myself a smart dumbass and if it weren’t at the urging of some people I never would have starting my fake DJ career which in turn led to this blog you are now reading and my tentative position as A&R for our merry band of dudes that make music.  I refuse to call it a record label, even if White Mike (of Team Cheating) says, “You can’t call it that it’s semi unprofessional and by semi unprofessional I mean completely unprofessional”.  So without further ado I present to you the inaugural Doc Holiday Mixtape Monday.  A cumulative listing of most of the mixtapes from the previous week and any other fucking mixtape I feel like throwing into the mix for shits and giggles.  I always felt like the Mixtape Mondays that MTV does absolutely suck, it’s like they pick the worst mixtape from the bunch or just make the safe pick.  So I guess it’s time for me to put up or shut up and hopefully in the process everyone enjoys my work and I can bring my unabashed shenanigans to you all.  Along with that hopefully I can find some time to review some of my favorite mixtapes and the ones I like the most from week to week.  Some quick 3rd person, Doc, hates proofreading so yeah i’m sorry for the grammar whores out there.  Normally, I usually recommend certain mixtapes and throw in a few thoughts, however since I partied all weekend that’s not going to happen.  To make it up to you all I have more mixtapes than you can shake a fucking stick at in this inaugural edition and I’ll try to recommend a few and throw in a few rants throughout the week.  IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER
