Update: I still stand by everything I wrote here lol, however this year marks a calmer and more patient Doc…at times. Eventually, I hope to start doing Doc Holliday PSA’s…kind of tips and shit that I have learned through my journey in the industry. I’m hoping they’ll be very informative and far less douchey, but you never know. So look out for those eventually. Nonetheless, enjoy the one and only addition of Doc Holliday’s DON’T.
Sorry about the lack of posts, I had planned to get a shitload of work done this weekend and then my fucking allergies went on the fucking fritz. I’m back now…with a fucking vengenance…with the scorn of a woman getting cheating on by her husband/boyfriend with an ugly bitch. That is is why I always cheat on any girlfriends with prettier girls, I just figure it’s the right thing to do. Anyway, I’m hear right now to not only introduce something new to you all, but to also talk about an epidemic that is sweeping the music I love and really the nation. I have long had a love/hate relationship with youtube, I’ve never been one of those dudes that scours youtube or any of the other video sites for that matter for videos. In fact, i’m a bit of film elitist or a film snob, a couple of years ago I even thought it would have been more likely I would have been involved in the film industry as oppose to music industry. Alas you can’t break into the porn industry unless you do gay porn first. I probably would have minored in film if I wasn’t partying so much and trying to slay white bitches. It’s been said that even though my vast movie collection is not alphabetized i’m able to find any movie immediately, I guess that’s just one of the many things that makes me Doc Holliday aka The Most Interesting Man In The World. In case you were wondering that youtube clip ***shakes fist*** is my first upload and a clip from DON’T!!! Which was one of the fakes trailers in between one my favorite movies Grindhouse from two of my favorite directors, Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez. I, of course, saw Machete over the weekend and loved it…you know because I understood the intent of the movie and thought he nailed it.
Which brings us back to the reason were here. DON’T!!! Which is going to be a segment when I put my craziness on full display for you all over something that truly makes my blood boil and that I don’t want muthafuckas to do anymore. Protagonist of this inaugural edition DON’T!!! Youtube videos, but it’s much deeper than that. ***deep breath*** Youtube is a great promotional and marketing tool, however, IT IS NOT THE ONLY PROMOTIONAL AND MARKETING TOOL. It’s great to be able to post a song on youtube for all the world to see hopefully accompanied by a video, but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be sending out those songs to blogs or especially DJs. There is absolutely no reason why someone should have to rip any artists song off youtube either. Which really any idiot can do, so if you are putting songs up on youtube thinking someone can’t get the mp3 than you are sadly mistaken. If someone wants to play your song, let them…you may never know who they are or how they may be able to help you. I’m really coming to find that the artist that take advantage of the opportunities that they are given are the ones that become successful. I’m always amazed why any artist would blow off someone that is trying to help them.
My issue lies a bit deeper though, I can look past a non-video on youtube if it’s not actually a video or even just a still image especially if it’s a song I want to hear in the spur of the moment. On the other hand, for whatever reason those fucking slideshows send me into a fucking fury. ***blood beginning to boil*** They almost turn me into Pinky from Next Friday ***tries to remain calm*** ***kicks over bottle of lotion on the masturbation station next to my desk*** IF ONE OF YOU NIGGAS MAKE ANOTHER OF THOSE MUTHAFUCKING SLIDESHOWS…I SWEAR IT’S OVER NIGGA!!! THAT SHIT IS NOT A FUCKING VIDEO!!! IT’S A FUCKING SLIDESHOW!!! IT’S LOOKS FUCKING STUPID AND THAT SHIT IS GAY!!! AND I AIN’T PLAYING NIGGA!!! OH, SHIT, WHAT!!! YOU GONNA KEEP POSTING THEM SHITS!!! DO IT AGAIN!!! DO IT AGAIN, NIGGA!!! I FUCKING DARE YOU!!! Excuse me…that shit just really pisses me off…please for the love of god just don’t do that shit anymore. So I guess that concludes my first installment of DON’T!!!, please just make sure as an artist you are exploring all of your options and taking full advantage of them. The internet is a great tool, but is also makes people very lazy. In closing if you have to post a non-video on youtube just make it a still image, I don’t want to have to come looking for you.
