The concert that got away….*cries* …I did actually get to meet Big K.R.I.T. at this Joell Ortiz concert though and after talking to him and watching how he handled the “crowd” at the show I went back and listened to his free album and really liked it a lot. I had originally quickly wrote him off, probably like most because he is from Mississippi. However, he is actually a pretty diverse and talent artist and producer as well. I really need to write at recap of that Joell Ortiz concert, I still can’t believe Jay Electronica’s performance was that terrible…man I almost wanted to leave…like everyone else.

I’ve said enough about Curren$y, so let’s talk about another one of the Smokey McBong Water Rappers, Smoke DZA. I originally just thought he was a producer, so I through on Substance Abuse 1.5 one day in the gym when I was sculpting the guns and really liked it. Just another chill album, I will definitely have to track down some more of his music.

I heard good things about YC downloaded this a while back and never got around to listening to it until after I saw him perform at Soutpaw last year. I got a chance to talk to him at Black Milk’s show at SOB’s and I told him how much I impressed. I’ve only been more impressed since seeing him again at his mixtape release party also at Southpaw and then when he came to Philly. He might not be a household name yet, but I think he will be soon. There is reason why he has earned the respect of several different people and one ass hat by the name of Doc Holliday. Hopefully, I get to finish writing something about him very soon.

Never heard of Yonas, I kinda like the cover though…he remains the odd man out. Sorry Yonas…I hope we can still be friends.

YONAS will bypass these guys by years end. I’d stop sleeping on the kid from the BX. His latest album, The Proven Theory is kickin’ doors down.
